Toddler Night Terrors

Sky was fast asleep beside me last night while I was reading. And then at around midnight he let out a heart piercing scream and , sat-up with his eyes wide open and started crying and screaming some more.

I tried to console by hugging or and carrying him, but he just got agitated some more. He normally sleeps very well through the night and this is the second time that he woke up this way this week.

Ate Ging and Mama tried to lull him to sleep. He momentarily calms down, but after a brief calm - he starts to scream again and was thrashing himself around. I checked his nose, his whole body for anything and even offered him milk. He just got more agitated.

No use if all of us got tired through the night. I asked Mama and Ate Ging to sleep and tried to console Sky by seeing to him and talking to him gently.

His fits alternated until 3AM. At that time we were both able to sleep soundly and we woke up together at 10AM this morning. He woke up with a smile on his angelic face and kissed my tummy immediately from waking up. He doesn't seem to have a memory of what happened the night before.

As any parent who worries over things like these, I was able to read a couple of articles from Baby Center and Dr. Greene's website.

It turns out Sky has the case of Toddler NIGHT TERRORS, he had a few bouts of infant night terrors before. You can read about it here.

I think I would need to IMPOSE a sleep schedule now. He goes through a phase every night of this:

When you're little one get's through this phase, remember to keep your cool and let him feel kindness and love from you.

Sky can't get enough of...

Aside from fresh milk, Sky can't seemed to get enough of Yoghurt. Yep, that sweet yet sour tasting vile that some people think of. But not us.

I happen to LIKE yoghurt. (Not because I'm a health freak) I just like the taste. It's good and it's good for me too. Now, let me just share some of the WHAT's and WHY's of eating yoghurt... Taken from eatyoghurt.com

What is Yoghurt?

Yoghurt is formed by the bacterial fermentation of milk. It can be made from any milk, but cows milk is usually used. Bacteria cause the sugar in the milk to ferment, that produces lactic acid. This then reacts with the protein in the milk to form yoghurt.

The primary benefits of natural yoghurt are simply a result of the potassium, calcium, B12 and other B vitamins and protein that it contains.

The claimed benefits of yoghurt include:

  • reduced gastrointestinal infections
  • improved immune system (resistance to illness and infection)
  • greater resistance to cancer
  • reduced incidence of osteoporosis (weakened bone strength)

Additional benefits include

  • treatment of, and reduction of the symptoms of, thrush
  • lactose intolerant people can often consume yoghurt, because the enzymes in the yoghurt help reduce the lactose levels in the intestines - thus gaining the benefits contained in all milk based products (above all calcium)
  • improved absorption of calcium in the intestine, because the lactic acid in the yoghurt provides the perfect environment for this absorption to occur.

Sky likes ice cream and cake... But when he sees me holding a cup of yoghurt - he takes on  different form. He can eat 2 cups in one seating! (But now I limit it to a cup a day, he's getting a "beer belly" from it.)

Right and Wrong...

When D and I had THE FIGHT last month - I have said a lot of hurtful things. I have tried asking nicely before and I have been so angry that day - that I resorted to threatening. I am so sorry for that.

Whenever I ask D if he was sorry that he hit me, he says he was. But he also says that it was because I provoked him.

Most of the happily married men that I have asked said that no matter what I have said - HE did not have the right to hit me the way he did that day.

Now, I don't know what to think.
